The Sun, Authority, and Pluto
In mundane astrology, the Sun represents the head of state, the President/Prime Minister, the government, and the central authority of a country. Pluto is associated with radical transformation, crisis, deconstruction, power, as well as death (literal or metaphorical, such as the loss/fall of power).
A hard aspect (such as a square or a conjunction) from Pluto to a country's natal Sun can indicate:
- A serious health issue of a highly pivotal leader.
- The sudden, violent, or total collapse of a government or a regime that held power for years.
- A radical restructuring of the country's power structure.
The Sun rules Turkey's 2nd house (Economy-Security) and 3rd house (Media, Transportation, neighboring states).
- The Economy (2nd House): As the Sun rules the 2nd house of the country's chart (the house of finances, revenues, national currency, and banking stability), Pluto's pressure points to a deep, structural economic crisis, a need for a radical restructuring of the economy, or the collapse of old financial models.
- Communication, Media, and Neighbors (3rd House): The 3rd house concerns domestic transportation, communications, the press/media, and relations with neighboring countries. Pluto's involvement here can bring aggression, propaganda, intense censorship, media control, aggressive rhetoric, and geopolitical tension or conflicts at the country's borders.
Geopolitical Tensions: Greece and Turkey
I believe that tensions will arise and we might even experience incidents as Greece, because Pluto touches Greece's natal Uranus in Aquarius and activates the square between Turkey's Sun and Greece's Uranus. This is a difficult condition showing that something sudden (Uranus) will come through Turkey's aggressive rhetoric (3rd house), as well as through its demands for financial restoration regarding its security (2nd house), with the country's authority (Sun) exercising intense aggression (square).
The tremors will begin from late December into the beginning of the new year, as Pluto, now in direct motion, will approach Turkey's Sun and Greece's Uranus with an applying aspect.
- For Greece: This could signify some sort of political upheaval or a split (as Uranus rules the country's 10th house), but caution is also required regarding severe weather phenomena. However, the fact that transiting Uranus in Gemini forms a trine might soothe the situation and save us from serious losses.
- For Turkey: Transiting Uranus will trine its natal Mars in the 4th house in the future. This grants success (due to the trine, which is admittedly distant) in its demands (Mars) regarding its homeland and territories (4th house). Meanwhile, the fact that Jupiter passes through its 2nd and 3rd houses (in both direct and retrograde motion) confirms the exaggerations in communication, the visibility it seeks (Leo) through the mass media, its characteristic provocativeness, and perhaps its luck.
Transiting Uranus is currently in Greece's 1st house, forming a trine with both natal Uranus and transiting Pluto. This shows the "settling in," the apathy (due to the ease of the trine), and the communication game (Gemini) used by authority (Uranus) in an underground and highly controlling manner (Pluto) toward the country and its citizens (1st house). This aspect essentially explains why nothing is moving in this country right now, while in other nations, citizens have taken to the streets to demand their rights.
Additionally, Jupiter transiting through Greece's 4th house indicates funds and investments coming from member states. Jupiter, forming a sextile with the natal Moon (which represents the public/the people), already reflects the financial aid the public receives, as well as everything the government promises domestically.
