As France rapidly approaches the crucial presidential elections of spring 2027, the country's political landscape is in a state of intense turmoil. With outgoing President Emmanuel Macron constitutionally barred from seeking re-election, all eyes are on Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far-right "National Rally". However, Marine Le Pen's political trajectory and her path toward the 2027 presidential election resemble a unique thriller unfolding simultaneously at the ballot boxes and in the courtrooms. Despite her recent conviction by the Paris Court of Appeal for the misuse of European funds, the reduction of her public office ban has allowed her to officially launch her election campaign. With the final ruling from the Court of Cassation pending for early 2027, France faces the unprecedented prospect of seeing a politician campaigning under the weight of a judicial conviction as a leading contender for the presidency.
