The Euro Chart & the Saturn Return

The Euro was born on January 1, 1999. Some astrologers use Frankfurt as its birthplace and others use Brussels, as the center of decision-making. We will examine the chart based on Frankfurt, which gives us the Ascendant at 2 degrees of Libra, the Moon in Gemini in the 9th house, and the Sun at 10 degrees of Capricorn. The Midheaven (10th house cusp) is located at 3 degrees of Cancer, and consequently, the 4th house cusp is at the exact same degrees of Capricorn. We also observe the Geodetic Midheaven (MC) at approximately 8° 41' of Aries, a point that Saturn has already passed and is bound to cross again (through retrograde and direct motions).

The ruler of the Ascendant is Venus, which also rules the 2nd house (finances). Venus participates in a T-square, finding itself at the apex of this formation. It absorbs all the pressure from Saturn and Mars through square aspects. Furthermore, Venus along with the Sun are placed in Capricorn—a sign that represents the detriment of the Moon (which signifies the people)—thus suggesting that the currency harms the public through austerity and rigor.

Neptune in Aries (especially during retrograde and direct movements that keep it at the same degrees for a long period) operates in a very slow manner that erodes the foundations of the global system (4th house).

It strikes the 4th house, the base of the chart that represents security, housing, the home, and real estate. We can clearly see what is happening worldwide regarding housing issues and the economy. People feel deep disappointment, insecurity, and a lack of direction. The sense of "stability" of the homeland or financial security (4th house) is shaken, leading to intense social exhaustion.

It also strikes the 10th House (Leadership, Institutions): It brings about the complete demystification of leaders and governments. Institutions are weakened, promises turn out to be illusions, and behind-the-scenes activity (both financial and political) blurs the landscape, leaving citizens feeling lost.

At the same time, transiting Saturn has "caught" the Sun (vitality) inside the 4th house, confirming this exact same trend. It shows the stricter measures (Saturn) that authorities (Sun) will be called upon to take, which will naturally work against the people (due to the Moon's detriment). This pressure will be directly linked to issues of security and stability (4th house). Concurrently, Saturn activates the Geodetic Midheaven (public image, leaderships), reinforcing and validating this exact pattern.

Converse
At this point, if we examine the chart of converse transits, we detect exceptionally critical indicators. Specifically, Converse Saturn forms a stressful quincunx aspect (150°) with the Euro's natal Mars, triggering internal deadlocks and the need for painful structural adjustments.

The most explosive element, however, is the action of Converse Uranus. The planet of disruptions and sudden changes is located at the 12th degree of Libra, from where it forms an exact square with the Euro's natal Sun in Capricorn (at 10 degrees).

This disharmonious aspect brings the need for violent reorganization (Uranus) into direct conflict with institutions, structures, and authorities (Sun in Capricorn). The fact that this dynamic unfolds within the 4th house of the chart clearly indicates that these upheavals will hit member states "from within." The internal stability, social cohesion, and sense of security (4th house) of the citizens will take heavy blows, as the institutional decisions of authorities shake the foundations of their daily lives.

The Saturn-Neptune synodic cycle that began in Aries shows us the new (Aries) that has gradually started to be born, but in a violent manner and through conflict-ridden situations. We already see the prevailing violence and intense economic problems. There will be a collapse of old (Saturn) structures and the emergence of new realities, albeit through absolute tension and violence. This "new" (Aries) that is gestating will come through deprivation and austerity (Saturn), while the deconstruction of current reality is clearly shown by Neptune.

Transit May 2027
I believe the major problem will manifest primarily from May 2027 onwards. The chart I cast for that period brings the angular cusps into cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), striking the sensitive points of the Euro's natal chart, as well as the Geodetic Midheaven (Aries). From this position, Saturn will "catch" Venus (ruler of the 1st and 2nd houses), fully activating the chart's natal T-square. At that exact point, Saturn will turn retrograde, remaining there for a long period of time.

The Euro is experiencing the first Saturn Return in its history.

Saturn takes about 28 to 30 years to complete its cycle and return to the exact same position it occupied at the "birth" of a chart. With the Euro being born on January 1, 1999, this period (2027–2028) marks its critical milestone of 28–29 years. It constitutes a period of absolute crisis, maturation, and harsh reckoning. Whatever has not been built on solid ground will now be tested to its limits or violently restructured (Aries), intensifying the climate of austerity and pressure for states and citizens alike.

The position of Converse Uranus in the 1st house of the chart worsens the situation even further, as it forebodes radical and irreversible changes to the very identity and structure of the Euro (1st house). Uranus from the 1st house (the self, the primary nature of the currency) forms a square with the natal Sun in Capricorn and the 4th house. This implies that the need for a violent transformation of the Euro will collide head-on with authorities (Sun) and traditional institutions (Capricorn), causing a deep crisis of existence. These changes will strike at the core of the economic security of member states (4th house), forcing the common currency to change its face in order to survive.
